Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Explained

Motor neurone disease (MND) is an umbrella term encompassing several specific types, including:

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS),
Progressive Muscular Atrophy (PMA),
Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS), and
Bulbar Onset MND.

ALS is the most common form of MND, also known in the USA as Lou Gehrig’s disease, involving both upper and lower motor neurone damage, leading to widespread muscle problems.
