What is Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV)?

Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) is a treatment option for individuals with motor neurone disease (MND) who experience respiratory difficulties.

NIV involves the use of a breathing device, such as a BiPAP or CPAP machine, to assist with breathing without the need for invasive procedures like intubation.

NIV can improve breathing and enhance the patient’s quality of life. It is typically prescribed by healthcare professionals based on individual needs and respiratory function.
